As most of us learned at a young age, there are certain physical laws that seem to govern the running of the cosmos. One of those laws is that, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Inertia

An object in motion tends to stay in motion, unless acted upon by an outside force. Again just a variation of action/reaction, but Inertia can be a wonderful thing if it’s applied to your life in a positive manner.

Another way to state the law of inertia would be to say that once the big ball gets rolling, it’s fairly easy (requires little energy) to keep it rolling. Now replace the big ball with success in your life. Once you get success going for you, it’s a chain reaction, and success just seems to happen all by itself. It requires hardly any energy to keep going, as opposed to the energy it took to get going in the first place. Remember how we talked about people are attracted to success?

Action Vs. Re-action

I believe one of the major reasons, that people never get what they want in life is because they never take the time to think actively or do actively or anything actively. Everything starts with a thought though, so let’s start there too.

How much time you spend thinking actively, as opposed to reactively? How much time do you waste contemplating the thoughts of someone else? This is how the masses can be led around like sheep, by advertising, and ‘leaders’, it’s because no one thinks for themselves, and the system is set up to keep you from doing just that.

All day long you’re bombarded with things that you react to, but do you spend anytime or energy doing some acting of your own? What are you uniquely contributing to humanity?

So here’s the homework for today

You want success? If it doesn’t directly contribute to your ability to act on what you want, then stop reacting to it. All the distractions that you think make up who you are… just leave them right where you find them or take action to keep them from happening again.

It’s like a dog that just won’t leave you alone… I’m sure you’ve had this happen to you before, you’re sitting down, relaxing, watching a movie or talking with friends and the dog wants attention. So he takes action, he goes over to you and starts licking your hand, or gently biting it in the way that most dogs do when they want something. The thing is, you don’t want to give attention to the dog, you want to continue doing what you were doing. Now you can do one of two things… You can act or you can react.

Ignoring the dog will usually work (this would be not-reacting which is a form of action when consciously done), but patience is required and for sake of argument, let’s say this dog is very persistent.

You can give in and pet the dog, but all this does is make the dog want more, and so all of a sudden you have a bigger drain on your energy.

Or you can take action that will prevent the dog from interrupting you (training him to lie down and not beg for attention or putting him outside) Whatever the fix might be, taking action and not reacting, is the only way to make sure that you don’t end up doing the dog’s bidding as opposed to your own.

So spend a few minutes every day when you wake up, thinking actively about what you want, and if it doesn’t bring a smile to your face and joy and peace to your heart, then what you want isn’t worth having, or you’re in it just for the money which will never make you happy or content.

So, as you may have heard, yesterday we had a little election in the States. Two men were running for the office of President. One ran with the theme of Change, while the other pandered more toward maintaining the status quo.

The results came in, and America voted overwhelmingly for Change. Out with the old, in with the new.

It was exciting to see so many people excited last night, and as I watched those people, I couldn’t help but wonder: What will they be saying about the state of our country in two years? Four years?

All too easily, we get worked up into excitement about making a change in our lives. And we run out and take that first step, full of passion and fire… And then the excitement fades. The buzz dies down.

What do we do then?

This year, don’t wait on a President. What one thing can you do in your life to bring about the change you want to see in the world?

All too often we expect someone else to do the work for us, and look what it’s gotten us! Take 60 seconds and think about it. What can you do? Voting is all well and good, but it’s still just telling someone what you want to happen. What action can you take? As the Buddha said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”Similar Posts:

Talkers! Everybody knows at least one of them. They flap their gums all day long without ever managing to say much of anything. You might even be one of them. I know I was.

I was the kind of person who would go on and on about what I really wanted to do with my life, while at the same time whining and complaining about how my life really was. I knew all about what I didn’t want, and I even began to think and talk about what I did want.

I would get all excited about what I was going to do and I would talk to my friends about it, and then a few days later my excitement would be gone, along with whatever momentum and motivation I might have had. Does this sound familiar? Do you know someone like this? Is this someone maybe, You? Don’t worry if it is. The solution is fun and simple: Do Something!

It doesn’t matter if you don’t know everything you need to yet… just do something, Do Anything but sit there and talk and think about what you want to do. It’s called the Ready, FIRE!, Aim method. At some point you will need to take aim, but start doing something today. Do that thing you’ve been putting off, or start writing that book you’ve been talking about. Start your online business, or begin getting in shape and feeling good about yourself.

A good attitude and outlook, and healthy, powerful thoughts are necessary, but if you never take any action then the Universe will never manifest what you want. The other part of the Secret that no one ever talks about is Action! For instance, have you ever noticed that when you’re busy doing something, you don’t have time to be un-Happy. It’s when you’re sitting around doing nothing that you want to do that un-happiness occurs.

In his book You’re Broke Because You Want To Be, Larry Winget says, “What you say you want means almost nothing. When every action you make contradicts your words, your words don’t mean a damn thing.”

Words do have power. What you say does matter, but unless you are a person of Action, your words are robbed of their power to change lives. If you’re not acting in accordance with your desires, than any actions you are taking are contradicting what you want. And what do you think speaks louder to the Universe? Actions or Words? So by all means, talk and dream and think, but do something, any thing at all… The river will flow all by itself, you just have to jump in it.Similar Posts:
